LAGOS — The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has urged schools to put prevention at the centre of their safety plans, with intelligence gathering, early warning systems, emergency drills and prompt reporting of threats.
He spoke through the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, at a summit of the Education Writers Association of Nigeria (EWAN) on the theme "School Safety: A National Security Priority".
The association's chairman, Mojeed Alabi, recalled the Chibok and Dapchi abductions and urged journalists to check whether schools have working emergency systems and how school security funds are spent.
