ABAKALIKI — One person has died and three others were injured after gunmen attacked the convoy of Rollins Offia-Nwali, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Ezza South constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

The Ebonyi police spokesperson, Joshua Ukandu, said the attack happened at about 4pm on Thursday in Amaezekwe community, Ezza South Local Government Area. Police found four people with gunshot wounds and a burnt vehicle, and one of the victims later died in hospital.

Offia-Nwali said his Toyota Hilux was set on fire. He urged young people not to risk their lives for other people's ambitions and said he would not be intimidated. He is challenging the incumbent lawmaker, Friday Ogbuewu of the All Progressives Congress.
