ABUJA — At least 20 electricity transmission towers have been vandalised between January and August 2026, an analysis by Daily Trust shows. A tower on the Ughelli–Benin 330kV line collapsed on 8 August, and the body of a suspected vandal was found at the site. The Nigerian Independent System Operator says the power market loses about N8 billion a month to transmission losses. TCN's managing director called for tougher penalties.
