NAICOM Revokes Universal Insurance Licence

LAGOS — The National Insurance Commission has revoked the licence of Universal Insurance for failing to meet the new minimum capital requirements, and appointed a receiver and provisional liquidator. The company was one of six insurers that missed the 31 July deadline and said it is appealing. The new minimum capital is N15 billion for non-life insurers and N10 billion for life insurers.
