ABUJA — The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has warned lawmakers that reducing its share of the 5 per cent ticket and cargo sales charges would weaken safety oversight. Director-General Chris Najomo told a House of Representatives committee that the charge accounts for about 85 per cent of the authority's revenue. Airline operators asked for the charge to be replaced with a flat fee, while former aviation officials backed keeping the regulator financially independent.
