ABUJA — Environmental and civil society groups protested at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja over Brazilian meat company JBS's $2.5 billion plan to build six processing plants in Nigeria. Mariann Bassey-Olsson of Environmental Rights Action told Premium Times the groups are not against investment but want the agreement made public. A sheep and goat farmers' representative in Niger State said farmers had not been informed. The livestock ministry did not respond to the newspaper's request for comment.
