ABUJA — About 41,000 construction workers, including 1,000 senior staff, have lost their jobs in the past two years because of poor funding of road projects, the Federation of Construction Industry said. Its president, Vincent Barrah, told a press briefing after the federation's annual general meeting that the gap between budget provisions and actual cash releases, unpaid certified work and contract terminations were to blame. He also cited the rising cost of cement, steel, bitumen and diesel.
