Civil Society Groups Demand Disclosure of JBS $2.5bn Livestock Deal

ABUJA — A coalition of civil society groups has called on the Federal Government to publish the details of its agreement with Brazilian meat company JBS. Under a memorandum signed in November 2024, JBS plans to invest $2.5 billion over five years in six processing plants for poultry, beef and pork. In a communiqué after a workshop in Abuja, the groups warned of environmental and land risks, and said their freedom of information requests had not been answered.
