World Bank Says Nigeria's Growth Will Average 4.4% to 2028

ABUJA — The World Bank's latest Nigeria Development Update says the economy grew 4.2 per cent in the first half of 2026 and projects average growth of at least 4.4 per cent between 2026 and 2028. It expects inflation, which fell from 27.6 per cent in January 2025 to 15.2 per cent in December 2025, to ease to about 12 per cent by 2028. The report put the current account surplus at $12 billion in the first half of 2026 and said reserves rose to $53.8 billion by the end of August. In a statement, President Bola Tinubu welcomed the report and said cash transfers have reached more than 10 million households and will be expanded.
