OWERRI — The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria plans to close the runway at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, for about 25 days, tentatively from 20 October 2026, for repairs. FAAN said the runway has potholes and widespread cracks made worse by heavy rain. The work will include resurfacing and an extension to allow wide-body aircraft. Final dates will be confirmed after consultations with stakeholders, and passengers have been advised to contact their airlines.
