Borno Seeks Private Investors for Resettlement of Displaced People

LAGOS — The Borno State Government has asked private investors to help fund the resettlement of people displaced by the insurgency. Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, representing Governor Babagana Zulum at a roundtable backed by the European Union and the German government, said public and humanitarian funding are not enough. He said 1,900 homes have been built in Monguno and about 4,000 people have received livelihood support. He listed irrigation, grain storage, livestock, fisheries, leather and agro-processing as areas for investment, and proposed a private sector compact for the state.
