LAGOS — The Chad, Benue Trough, Anambra and Benin basins could add 500 million barrels to Nigeria's oil reserves, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission said at an energy conference in Lagos. Speaking for the commission's chief executive, Patricia Temisan-Olatunde said the blocks awarded in the 2025 licensing round are expected to produce at least 300,000 barrels per day within five years, along with 20 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves. The commission said it is focusing on restoring more than 788,000 barrels per day of shut-in production across 63 operators.
