ABUJA — Nigeria produces less than a quarter of the fish it needs, according to the National Fish Association of Nigeria. Its president, Ladan Aliyu, said at the inauguration of the association's new executive that he put demand at about 300,000 metric tonnes a year. He blamed the weak naira for the high cost of imported fish and urged farmers to form cooperatives to get training, inputs and policy support.
