ABUJA — About 15.2 million houses in Nigeria were substandard as of 2025, and the housing deficit stands at about 14.9 million units, according to the Association of Housing Corporations of Nigeria. Its president, Eno Obongha, gave the figures in a state of housing address on World Habitat Day. The association launched a plan to deliver 740,000 homes between 2027 and 2031 through public-private partnerships, serviced land, mortgages and cooperatives. Obongha called for a single national housing database and said state housing corporations are held back by poor funding, land problems and outdated laws.
