LAGOS — Two open market operations auctions held by the Central Bank of Nigeria on 24 and 29 September attracted N12.14 trillion in bids against N3.4 trillion offered, with about N6.94 trillion allotted. A new 266-day bill drew N4.54 trillion in bids and cleared at 16.23 per cent. Ayokunle Olubunmi of Agusto & Co told Daily Trust the demand reflected wider market participation, excess liquidity and foreign interest, and said he expects the central bank to keep mopping up cash as the elections approach. David Adonri of Highcap Securities said yields above 17 per cent remain attractive to investors.
