Audit Report Flags N686m Aviation Payments for Control Towers and Firearms

ABUJA — The Auditor-General of the Federation's 2024 report says the Ministry of Aviation paid N686.4 million for control towers and firearms without satisfactory evidence that the work was done or the items delivered. The report, submitted to the National Assembly in July, says N163.92 million was paid to contractors for six control towers awarded in 2018 for N4.46 billion, which remain incomplete. It also flags N270.02 million for rifles and ammunition without approval from the National Security Adviser and N252.47 million for sub-machine guns and pistols with no evidence of delivery. The auditors described the ministry's responses as unsatisfactory.
