LAGOS — The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise says NNPC's decision to sell petrol at landing cost is a temporary response to a global price shock and not a return to the subsidy regime. In a statement, CPPE Chief Executive Muda Yusuf said the relief covers only NNPC's own supply and does not reintroduce a government-fixed national price or impose obligations on private marketers. He blamed recent price increases on geopolitical tensions that pushed crude oil above $100 per barrel. Yusuf urged investment in CNG and electric mass transit and support for farm inputs, with safeguards against abuse.
