LAGOS — The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry has proposed a six-month programme to bring pump prices 15 to 20 per cent below the national average. Presenting the chamber's third-quarter economic review, its president, Leye Kupoluyi, welcomed the Federal Government's proposed fuel price stabilisation mechanism but warned that delaying cost recovery could lead to higher prices later. He said the central bank's cut of the policy rate from 26.5 per cent to 23 per cent will not automatically make loans cheaper for businesses.
