ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu has welcomed a World Bank Group plan to mobilise up to $5.79 billion in private financing for agriculture and digital infrastructure in Nigeria. The package combines World Bank programmes, financing from the International Finance Corporation and guarantees from the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency. It will support Project BRIDGE, which plans 90,000 kilometres of fibre-optic cable, and is expected to attract at least $156 million of equity in its first round and up to $1.1 billion by 2030. In a post on X, Tinubu said 65 projects seeking $78.5 billion were presented to investors by the finance minister and the CBN governor at a Nigeria Investors Forum in Bangkok.
