LAGOS — The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has approved the design of a monorail linking Ikeja Railway Station to Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), connecting the airport to the Lagos Red Line rail service.
Keyamo announced the approval on X on Tuesday after a meeting with the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the ministry's Permanent Secretary and engineering teams. The line will have five stations: Ikeja, Domestic Airport, Beesam, Toll Gate and MMIA, ending at Terminal 1, which is being rebuilt. The minister described the monorail as an integral part of the airport's reconstruction.
FAAN's Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, said at the World Aviation Festival in Lisbon on 18 October that talks on financing the project were at an advanced stage.
