ABUJA — Four seats on INEC's board of National Commissioners are vacant or about to be, a senior INEC official told Daily Trust. Three commissioners left on September 14 when their five-year terms ended, and a fourth was due to leave in October. Eight commissioners remain, enough to form a quorum, but the workload has increased ahead of the 2027 elections. The President nominates commissioners, who must be confirmed by the Senate.
