ABUJA — Senators have declared that the office of Senate President in the 11th National Assembly is not open to contest, backing Godswill Akpabio to retain the seat. The motion, moved by Senator Tahir Monguno, also endorsed Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and other principal officers. The actual election of presiding officers will still depend on legislative procedure when the next Assembly is inaugurated.
