ABUJA — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the submission of governorship and state assembly candidates by three days, to Tuesday, August 11, 2026. National Commissioner Mohammed Kudu Haruna said the extension followed requests from political parties using the online portal. INEC also suspended the collection of Permanent Voter Cards in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election, and said cards stolen in Odo-Otin and Ife Central had been replaced and cannot be used to vote.
