ABUJA — A faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) formerly aligned with Rabiu Kwankwaso has petitioned the National Peace Committee, chaired by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd), and threatened legal action against INEC. In the petition dated August 2, the faction said INEC refused to give it access codes for the candidate nomination portal, even though it submitted its membership register in May and INEC monitored its congresses and primaries. It described the denial as an indirect, illegal deregistration and asked the committee to host a reconciliation meeting between INEC and all factions.
