The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cleared former minister Uche Nnaji as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State. Nnaji submitted a WAEC certificate rather than a University of Nigeria degree in his filing. He is facing a six-count charge of forgery and money laundering, and his trial resumes on October 26. The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has said he was admitted in 1981 but did not graduate, and the NYSC has disowned the certificate attributed to him.
