LAGOS — Twenty-five art students of Yaba College of Technology have used art to explore mental health at a two-day Health Story Lab titled 'What We Carry', held on October 2 and 3. The programme was organised by the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art at Pan-Atlantic University and the Art for Health Initiative. Facilitators guided the students in creating works that reflect personal and shared experiences of mental health. Organisers cited research showing a 7.9 per cent rate of suicidal ideation among young people, based on a review of 53 studies, and said art can help break the silence around mental health.
