AGBARHA-OTOR, DELTA — Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU) has directed its Pro-Chancellor, Anthony Kila, to step aside pending an investigation into questions about his professorship. The university said on Tuesday that the decision was taken in the interest of academic integrity, but gave no timeline for the investigation. Kila's name and photographs have been removed from the university's website. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has also set up a team to investigate him and whether the university benefited in any way. Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyinka Fuwape, said the university would respond after internal consultations, as its council had yet to meet.
