An investigation by Premium Times has questioned the professorship claimed by Anthony Kila, who has been Pro-Chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU), Delta State, since August 2025. Kila describes himself as a professor and 'Jean Monnet Professor of Strategy and Development'. According to the newspaper, it found no recognised institution that awarded him a professorship. Kila told the newspaper he was made a professor in 2016 by the European Centre for Advanced and Professional Studies, Cambridge, but Premium Times said it found no record of the body with UK Companies House, the Corporate Affairs Commission or online. A spokesperson for the university said at the time that it had no evidence that he was not a professor.
