KANO — The Kano State Private and Voluntary Institutions Board has closed nine private schools for seven days from October 12 for failing to revalidate and recertify their registration. The Executive Secretary, Comrade Baba Abubakar Umar, said the board had found 111 schools bypassing registration procedures. He said schools that reopen without approval will face legal action. Umar also warned private schools against unapproved fee increases, forcing parents to buy uniforms and books from the school, and expelling pupils without informing their parents. He said all licences expired on July 31, 2026, and must be renewed for the 2026/2027 session.
