ILE-IFE — Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has raised concern over a restriction on the use of hijab at the Obafemi Awolowo University International School, Ile-Ife. The group's Executive Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, said students wearing hijab were locked out of school for days or weeks and told to wait until December 2026, when the university council is expected to deliberate on the matter. He said the affected girls reportedly removed their hijabs to return to class. MURIC cited Section 38 of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of religion, and asked the university to lift the restriction.
