SOKOTO — The Sokoto State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Ahmad Ladan Ala, has ordered urgent measures to tackle low attendance by students and teachers in schools. He gave the directive at the ministry's weekly briefing after two monitoring teams found low turnout in schools, and that some quality assurance officers were absent from duty. Schools remain closed in most parts of the state for security reasons, except in Sokoto North and Sokoto South local government areas and some schools in Wamakko, Kware and Dange-Shuni. The Director of Quality Assurance was directed to act, and teachers were told to keep their records updated.
