Seven children have won startup grants totalling N1.1 million in the Startup Spark 2.0 pitch competition at the Teesas Education summer school, sponsored by Indomie and Tech4Dev. The summer school ran in two cohorts from July 20 to August 29, covering leadership, entrepreneurship, technology and creative skills, and winners were partly decided by public vote. Obaniefo Okonkwo and Daniel Chukwuemeka won the top grants of N250,000 each. Kobi Mba and Mojeed Zatu-Nurayn received N150,000 each, while Oluwatoni Oyename, Akinkunmi Awomokun and Nehemiah Layade received N100,000 each. Ten-year-old Mojeed, who pitched robots to help children and elderly people cross roads, joined through a challenge that gave five free places to children aged seven to 18. Tech4Dev sponsored 10 children from Makoko. Teesas said votes across the two cohorts exceeded 50,000.
