ABUJA — The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has trained 30 senior secondary school students of Premiere Academy, Abuja, as human rights defenders and peace ambassadors. The commission's Executive Secretary, Chief Anthony Okechukwu Ojukwu, SAN, received the students on Monday. The training, delivered by the commission's Human Rights Education and Promotion Unit, covered human rights, civic duties, justice, equality and the commission's mandate. During a question-and-answer session, the students raised issues including child protection, bullying, discrimination, abuse and access to justice. The school's principal, Chris Akinsowon, said the visit reflected the school's focus on character and civic awareness.
