ADO-EKITI — The Chairman of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Youths, Sports Development and Job Creation, Hakeem Jamiu, has told students that the future economy will reward skills rather than certificates. Jamiu, a former Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, delivered a lecture titled 'Equipping Ekiti Youth for the Modern Economy' at Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti. He said degrees alone no longer guarantee employment and urged students to build digital, vocational and entrepreneurial skills. He pointed to technology, agriculture, manufacturing, the creative industries and entrepreneurship as sectors with growth potential, and called on institutions to include more practical training so that graduates create jobs rather than look for them.
