NSUKKA — The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has confirmed that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi was admitted to study Philosophy and graduated from the university. The confirmation came in response to a Freedom of Information request by Premium Times, after Abayomi Arabambi of a faction of the Labour Party claimed that Obi could not have studied Philosophy with only passes in English and Mathematics in his 1978 WAEC result. In a letter dated August 26 and signed by a senior deputy registrar, Eseme Obiora, UNN said Obi was admitted to the Department of Philosophy on September 3, 1980, and awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Second Class Lower Division, dated December 15, 1984. The university said he met the O'Level requirements for admission and that no exemptions or alternative routes were used.
