BENIN CITY — The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has distributed free school bags, shoes, notebooks and pencils to pupils at New Benin Market ahead of the resumption of schools on Monday, September 14. The board's Executive Chairman, Ayewoh Oyakhilome, said public basic education in the state is free, and children found hawking during school hours will be returned to school. He also warned parents not to keep children with disabilities at home, saying education is for all. The state coordinator of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Gloria Lawani, said teachers have been trained to support learners with special needs.
