KANO — The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has given states until November 15, 2026, to show readiness for the World Bank-supported Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equality in Education (HOPE-EDU) programme, or miss the first round of disbursements. The Executive Secretary, Dr Aisha Garba, represented by the commission's North-East director, Abdullahi Jarma, spoke at a workshop in Kano for staff of SUBEBs in the North-West and North-East. The programme focuses on a structured pedagogy package, including teacher training, transparent supply of books and assessment of learning. The programme manager, Olumayowa Aleshin, said the workshops are being held in three phases across all six geopolitical zones.
