JALINGO — Students of the Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences, Jalingo, have protested following an overnight attack on an off-campus female hostel. A student was allegedly sexually assaulted and had a finger cut off, and is receiving treatment in a hospital in the Mile 6 area. A students' union official, who asked not to be named, said it was the second attack on a hostel in two weeks. The college has seven hostels on campus, one for male and six for female students, but many students still live off campus without adequate security. After an earlier robbery in which 33 phones were stolen, the state ministry had recommended moving students into the new hostels. The Provost, Dr Dorcas Dugule, declined to comment.
