130 Days On, Borno Parents Protest and Threaten to March on Aso Rock

ASKIRA-UBA, BORNO — Parents of children abducted from Mussa and Lassa in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State protested on Monday as their children marked 130 days in captivity. They gave the Federal Government a six-day ultimatum, threatening to take their protest to the Presidential Villa. The acting district head of Lassa, Wadzani Hammatu, said most of the abducted children are toddlers aged one to three. The Emir of Uba, Ali Samaila Mamza, and the member representing the area in the House of Representatives, Midala Usman Balami, who has moved a motion on the abductions, called for urgent rescue efforts. A retired army general, Maj-Gen Umar I. Mohammed, told Daily Trust that the government should treat the Borno abductions with the same urgency it showed in Oyo State.
