GUSAU — The Better Life Programme for the African Rural Woman has launched a three-year scholarship scheme for indigent students from four schools in Zamfara State. The pilot phase covers 20 students, 13 girls and seven boys, starting from JSS3. Beneficiaries will receive uniforms, school bags, textbooks, shoes and writing materials, and their progress will be monitored every quarter. The programme's coordinator, Aisha Abu, said many students drop out after JSS3 because their families cannot afford learning materials. The principal of Government Day Secondary School, Unguwar Danbaba Tsunami, Bashir Ibrahim Usman, praised the initiative.
