TAFAWA BALEWA, BAUCHI — Rehabilitation work on the hostels at Government Girls Secondary School, Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi State, is about 80 per cent complete, the Commissioner for Education, Abdulkadir Mohammed, has said. The commissioner, who inspected the work, said the damage was caused by a windstorm about three months earlier and not by neglect, responding to a video that went viral on social media. He said Governor Bala Mohammed approved the repair contract immediately after the storm, which also affected four or five other schools. Reconstruction of the school's perimeter fence had also been approved. The commissioner said the new structures have additional beams and pillars to withstand future storms.
