DUTSE — The Jigawa State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Isa Yusuf Chamo, has announced an emergency meeting with the ASUU branch at Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa, following the union's threat to strike. He blamed the dispute on poor communication and said the state was studying an agreement sent by the National Universities Commission about two weeks earlier. The meeting will include the Vice-Chancellors of both state universities, the Accountant-General, the Attorney-General and union officials. Chamo defended the allocation of 0.7 per cent to the new Jigawa State University of Medical and Allied Health Sciences, saying it was approved by the State Executive Council and the House of Assembly. He added that the government is upgrading roads and solar power at the university.
