ABUJA — Vice-President Kashim Shettima has described the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a social equaliser that has given financial relief to students from less privileged homes. Shettima spoke on Wednesday when he received the management of the University of Abuja, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi. He said the scheme, which covers tuition and pays a monthly upkeep allowance, means poverty should no longer stop young people from going to school. The Vice-President praised the university for restoring stability and pledged continued federal support. Fawehinmi said NELFUND had helped stabilise the sector and keep students in school.
