DUTSE — The Forum of Health Commissioners in the North-West has resolved to close substandard private health training institutions across the region. The forum's chairman and Jigawa State Commissioner for Health, Dr Abdullahi Muhammad Kainuwa, said a special committee will monitor institutions in the seven states. He said institutions without permanent premises, qualified staff or functional laboratories will be targeted. Officials found to have licensed unqualified institutions will face severe sanctions, including possible loss of their jobs. Kainuwa said private health training schools are needed because public institutions cannot meet the demand, but they must meet the required standards.
