AKURE — Students of universities owned by Ondo State have given Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa a two-week ultimatum to resolve the strike by academic and non-academic staff. The students protested in Akure before announcing the ultimatum, demanding that the government meet the demands of ASUU, NASU, SSANU and other striking unions. The Ondo State Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Mayomi Adeboye, said the NANS National President had told them the governor had reached out and that plans for implementation were being made. Adeboye said Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, had been on strike for more than two months and the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, for one month. He said one student had lost a $67,000 scholarship because school was not in session. The Students' Union Presidents of AAUA, Folagbade Greatness, and UNIMED, Adekunle Samuel, threatened mass mobilisation if the strike is not resolved.
