BOUESTI Retirees Appeal to Oyebanji Over Unpaid Pensions

ADO-EKITI — Retired staff of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, have appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji to intervene over unpaid pensions. In a letter dated September 7, 2026, signed by the Chairman of the BOUESTI Pensioners Association, Dr Kola Ajaja, and its Public Relations Officer, Mr Alao Odeyemi, the retirees said they had not received their August pension and that only 50 per cent of the July pension was paid. They said some pensioners had died while waiting for their entitlements. The retirees also listed unpaid gratuities, minimum wage arrears, a pension increase of between 20 and 28 per cent, and a 2019 pension adjustment that was never implemented. They asked the governor, who is the Visitor to the university, to order immediate payment of all outstanding entitlements. The pensioners said they chose to write rather than protest publicly.
