ZARIA — Dr Umar Sani Bebeji, a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has died in a road accident. The crash happened at about 9am on Saturday at Dumbin Rauga on the Kaduna-Zaria Expressway. His colleague and childhood friend, Zubairu Lawal Bamalle of the university's Faculty of Arts, confirmed the death. Bebeji, 45, was the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Law, a lecturer in the Department of Commercial Law and Coordinator of the ABU Law Clinic, which promotes clinical legal education and access to justice. He is survived by his wife and two children, and was buried at Kwanar Chanchangi cemetery in Tudun Wada, Kaduna. Colleagues and former students described him as an accomplished scholar and a dedicated mentor.
