AKUNGBA-AKOKO — Lecturers at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), say their indefinite strike will continue until they receive the salary arrears approved by the Ondo State Government. The ASUU branch chairman, Comrade Bolu Oshodi, said Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had approved an intervention of more than N1.1 billion, but members had yet to receive payment. He said the state released the money but the university was still waiting for it to arrive, a delay blamed on the bank. The strike began on July 10, 2026, and lecturers are owed three months' salaries for May, June and July. Oshodi said the university's monthly subvention is about N223 million against a salary bill of about N550 million. He noted that Ondo-owned universities, including AAUA, OAUSTECH and UNIMED, had not implemented the 2025 FGN-ASUU salary agreement, unlike universities in neighbouring states such as EKSU, BOUESTI, UNIOSUN, LAUTECH and KWASU. The branch is considering another strike over the agreement, pending national approval, and appealed to the governor to intervene.
