UNILAG Hosts South-West Universities on Climate Literacy, Launches Curriculum Toolkit

LAGOS — The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, says Nigerian universities are ready to take part in coordinated action on climate literacy. She spoke at an inter-university dialogue titled 'Scaling Climate Literacy: An Inter-University Dialogue for Curriculum Transformation in South-west Nigeria', held at UNILAG. Universities from Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states took part. At the event, a toolkit was launched to help universities embed climate literacy into the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) across all disciplines, including accounting, law, engineering and the arts. It was produced by UNILAG's Institute of Nigeria-China Development Studies with support from the Pulitzer Center's Africa Impact Seed Fund. The institute's director, Prof. Olufemi Muibi Saibu, said each faculty and region needs its own approach. A South-west Nigeria Climate Literacy Educators' Network was also launched.
