ADO-EKITI — A civil society organisation, the Partnership for Ethical Governance (PEG), has called on the Federal Government to increase funding for the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE). Presenting its independent assessment of the university to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the group's representative, Olawole Oladapo, praised the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, who took office on February 11, 2026, for introducing a zero-tolerance policy against lecturers who demand illegal payments from students, backed by Senate-approved sanctions. PEG said its assessment covered both campuses and included interviews with staff and students, and found improved administrative discipline and transparency. The group noted the university's eight-point covenant with its community, the allocation of part of its internally generated revenue to research, a planned independent power plant, a move to an AI-driven portal and a planned research library with access to about 501 international databases. It asked the Federal Government to fund infrastructure, research, digital technology, energy and specialised facilities, and to release special intervention funds on time for the expansion of medical and engineering programmes.
